Why Carry A Concealed Gun?

Generally, if you don't visit or hang around dangerous places you don't have to worry about carrying a gun. That used to be true but nowadays anyplace can be dangerous. So why not carry your own personal protection? It doesn't have to be cocked and ready to fire. Just as long as it's there and you know how to use it.

Carrying Small Handguns

The average person looking for personal protection doesn't want to "strap on" a heavy gun and lug it around all day. They seek small handguns for concealed carry that they can drop into their pocket or purse and don't have to worry about.

On one hand, the smaller the gun the better. On the other hand the smaller the gun the less "stopping power" it has. The choices of small handguns come in .22 caliber, .32 caliber and .380 caliber and 9mm, with 9mm being on the brink of being a larger and heavier gun.

There are numerous choices of small handguns. Too numerous to list here. I would suggest that after you decide on what caliber you are interested in and looking at the selection of handguns in that caliber range at some online gun stores like BudsOnlineGunShop.com. Bud's has a large selection of guns at great prices. I bought most of my guns at Buds.

  1. .22 Caliber Small Handgun for Concealed Carry
.22 LR caliber handguns uses the smallest bullet and generally has the least stopping power with regard to self protection. Ammunition is plentiful and cheap.

  2. .32 Caliber Small Handgun for Concealed Carry
.32 caliber is the next size up from the .22 caliber but is generally considered to have little stopping power.

  3. .380 Caliber Small Handgun for Concealed Carry
.380 caliber handguns is considered the middle range of the small handguns for concealed carry. It carries what many consider to be marginal stopping power.

  4. 9mm Caliber Small Handgun for Concealed Carry
9mm caliber handguns are generally too large for concealed carry in a pocket or purse and they are heavier than the other choices.

The Best Small Handguns For Concealed Carry

The best choice of small handguns to carry would seem to be the .380 ACP. The .380 offers a compromise between stopping power, size and weight and can slip into a pocket or purse without notice. My choice for the best small handgun to carry would be the Ruger LCP .380 ACP. It is powerful, light weight, small and has the Ruger reputation for reliability.

Smaller Guns Have More Recoil

If you do choose a small handgun be sure to -try it before you buy it. Be sure you can handle the recoil. Small handguns have more kick than larger heavier guns. It is much more difficult to hit the target with a small gun than it is with a larger heavier gun. Be sure to practice at the range with your carry gun. The gun won't be any good (other to scare people with) if you can't hit anything with it.

Small Handguns And "Stopping Power"

January 5, 2012
Its simply wrong to put the words "stopping power" in your information. A bad guy shot through the heart can stay going for some time. Enough time to kill you if he's got a mind to. Of course a 45 leaves a big hole but if its not placed properly it will do you little good as the bad guys weapon does its work on you. Its not the "stopping power" in my opinion that STOPS a bad guy wanting to do you deadly harm, it is instead the placement of the bullet and the best placement comes with the most comfortable gun for the shooter and the most training and practice one takes with his or her weapon. It should not be confused with my **** is bigger than yours. In my opinion.
