DUMMY AMMUNITION QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
-
Q: Is the 9 mm luger dummy ammunition made of a REAL brass cartridge & a REAL bullet?
A: Yes, the 9 mm luger dummy ammunition is made of range pickups (casings of different manufacturers) which have had their primer removed and have been cleaned and polished. The bullets used are new 115 grain round nose full metal jacket (FMJ) bullets.
-
Q: Is the dummy ammunition suitable for dry fire use?
A: Most centerfire 9mm hand guns can safely be dry fired without ammunition. Consult your owner's manual for your specific gun. Consequently, our dummy rounds may be used for dry fire purposes but they contain no primer for the firing pin to contact with.
-
Q: Can the dummy ammunition be used and mixed in a magazine with live ammunition to simulate a misfire?
A: Yes. These simulate the weight, length and chambering characteristics of a live round.
-
Q: Is dummy ammunition the same as snap caps?
A: No, our dummy ammunition do not have primers for firing pins to strike against.
