Ruger LCP Magazines are available in a variety of styles. The standard magazine hold six rounds, has a tempered steel body, hardened feed lips, steel magazine spring and a nylon follower. When this model is installed in Ruger LCP the pistol grip is very small and hard to hold on to. There's no place for your pinky finger to rest so you have to tuck it beneath the guns grip. It takes a little getting used to but it provides a smaller profile for the gun.
The second magazine model is similar to the standard model except that it has a finger extension built into it. It provides a more comfortable and secure grip on the gun for better shooting and greater accuracy.
For greater ammo capacity, 10 Round and 15 Round magazines are available. Not great for concealed carry but might be fun at the range or useful for home defense.

Does A Ruger LCP Magazine Need Grip Extensions?
If you want a better grip on the gun the answer is yes. See the Grip Extension Review and the following pictures of magazines with and without grip extensions. You can either install a grip extension yourself or buy a magazine with a finger extension already installed.
