Zombie Shooting Game
Caution - Follow all gun and shooting safety precautions when handling firearms.
This Zombie Shooting Game is designed to test the shooter's ability while shooting under pressure. The premise is that two zombies (starting at 50 feet away) are running towards the shooter and are going to eat his brains. The shooter must initiate the motion of the target, then load his gun and place two shots in each of the zombie's brains before the zombies reach you.
Shooting Preparations
This game is intended for use in an indoor shooting range with motorized moving targets that can be shot at when moving towards the shooter.
-
Print two Zombie shooting heads on 8 1/2 x 11" paper (click on the above image).
-
Affix both zombie heads on target backstop.
-
Set target to a distance of 50 feet.
-
Place unloaded pistol on shooting bench. Place two pistol magazines with 5 rounds each next to the pistol.
Shooting Instructions
-
Initiate movement of the target towards the shooter.
-
Shooter loads his gun and fires at the zombie heads as the target moves towards him. If needed, shooter reloads while the zombies are still moving towards the shooter.
-
After shooter places two rounds into each of the zombie's brains, the shooter puts his gun down and stops the motion of the target (if possible). The distance stopped is recorded.
-
The next shooter takes his turn.
-
The shooter who shoots both zombies at the farthest distance wins.
This shooting exercise forces you to practice a variety of shooing skills under pressure. The action of initiating the motion of the target distracts the shooter from the zombies. The shooter then has to load and shoot, then reload and shoot some more. If both zombies don't have two rounds in each of their heads before the target reaches you, you lose the game.
Zombie Shooting
Game Update:
The game is a lot harder than it sounds. I played the Zombie shooting
game with a friend last week we both would
have ended up zombies ourselves (being unsuccessful in placing a bullet
into their brains). Even the
range master at the
shooting range tried it without success. It makes you realize that
shooting with distractions and at a moving target with
time limitations is totally different than target shooting.
Things That I Would Change About The Game
-
Setting the target zombies at 50 feet is too far away. You just end up wasting ammunition at that distance. Start at 35 feet instead of 50 feet.
-
Change two bullets into their brains to one bullet in the brain. One is hard enough.
-
The first magazine should have one or two rounds in it instead of five and you should start with the first magazine installed in the gun without a round in the chamber (to simulate real world conditions).
SHOOTING DRILLS
These drills are designed to improve defensive shooting as well as target practice accuracy. Use different guns and calibers for all around practice. Learn different shooting drills with DVDs - Handgun Training Drills
