Shooting Targets

Targets are objects that people shoot at while practicing shooting their guns. They are available in all shapes and sizes as well as the materials of which they are composed. On this page I will address only paper targets used in hand gun target practice.  If you do a search on the Internet for shooting targets you will find a wide selection is available for purchase and or download. Most gun ranges have a variety of paper targets that you may purchase at the front desk or pro shop when you go shooting.

TARGETS OF A BAD GUY HOLDING GUN

I purchased a few of these targets and found that for the money I spent they were not worthwhile. Even though you have a large target to shoot at, after you have a number of rounds into the target it gets confusing as to where your next shot went.

BLACK BULL'S EYE TARGET ON WHITE PAPER

You may purchase or two this type of target. I don't like the subject of target because at the range were I go, they use a thick black rubber material as the backing plate to which you print your target. By using a black paper target on top of this black backing it makes it very difficult to see the bullet hole because it is black on black anger and is no different she Asia differentiation in color.

CHOICE OF TARGETS

I found that the best target for me was simply one that I printed for free up of the Internet. It is printed on an 8 ½ by eleven piece of paper and contains black target lines and circles but no solid colors. This way when my bullet strike it's the target it leaves a hole in the white paper on the black background who of the backing and is very easy to see and is very highly visible. Plus it's free, so you can't beat the price.

Note - Plain white paper plates make excellent targets. When pinned onto a dark colored backing it is very easy to see where your shots land because of the color contrast. Also, because the paper plate is not entirely flat against the back stop there is a space or small gap between it the plate and the backing. This depth or gap between the two adds perspective and seems to make the shots more visible from a distance.
