Firing Pin Of A Gun
The
firing pin
of a pistol is generally a lightweight,
slender metal rod with a shaped end that transfers energy from
the hammer of the gun to the
primer. A striker serves the same
function as a firing pin but is usually heavier and comes in
direct contact with the spring that provides the striking force
(no hammer mechanism). Striker mechanisms are generally simpler
since they incorporate the function of both the hammer and pin into one.
