What Safety Features Do Glocks Have?

Glock Safety Features
Glock pistols do not feature conventional manual safety levers, however they are equipped with a revolutionary, fully automatic safety system consisting of three passive, independent, mechanical safety devices that collectively form the Glock Safe Action safety system.
GLOCK SAFE ACTION SAFETY SYSTEM
-
Glock Trigger Safety - this safety is incorporated into the center of trigger itself in the form of a lever. In the forward position the lever blocks rearward movement of the trigger. To fire the pistol, the safety must be deliberately pressed at the same time as the trigger. If the trigger safety is not depressed, the trigger will not move rearward and the pistol will not fire. This is designed to prevent unintentional firing when the pistol is dropped, falls or is subjected to the forces such as inertia or external pressures.
-
Glock Firing Pin Safety - this safety projects into the firing pin channel and mechanically blocks the firing pin from moving forward. When the trigger is being moved rearwards, a vertical extension of the trigger bar pushes the firing pin safety upwards, clearing the firing pin channel. During the slide cycling process, the firing pin button safety automatically engages with an assist from the firing safety spring. This safety was designed to avoid unintentional firing in the event that extreme forces cause a separation of the slide and receiver.
-
Glock Drop Safety - The rear part of the trigger bar, which has a cruciform shape, rests with both arms on the drop safety shelf located in the trigger mechanism housing. When the trigger is pulled to the rear, the trigger bar begins to move off the safety shelf as the trigger bar is forced downwards and rearwards by the connector until finally separating from the firing pin lug. During the slide cycling process, the connector is pushed inward by a cam in the slide releasing the trigger bar which is then lifted with help from the trigger spring and caught by the firing pin lug. The trigger bar is engaged by the firing pin lug and both arms are pushed onto the drop safety shelf again.
