Winchester PDX1 Supreme Elite Self Defense
410 shot shells as home or personal defense ammunition? My friend bought some Winchester PDX1 Supreme Elite 410 Shot Shells to test in his Bond Snake Slayer Derringer to see how manageable they were to shoot (recoil) and to see what type of damage they would do to a paper target 10 feet away. He also performed other 410 shot shell ammunition tests.
This shot shell has 3 disks and 12 BBs. You can get a rough idea of the spread pattern at 10 feet by looking at the photo below. When fired from the derringer, the 410 recoil was not light but it was manageable. The sound made was impressive and made a statement as to the power of the shell.

Winchester PDX1 Supreme Elite Self Defense
Tested by the FBI to see if it can stand up to real
world, life threatening situations, this ammunition has impressive
expansion and notable velocities at various ranges thanks to
Winchester's proprietary bonding process. In PDX1 ammunition, Winchester
engineers have created a self defense load that exhibits controlled
expansion and a higher weight retention.
In addition to the 12 pellets of plated BB shot, the 410 Bore load also
features 3 plated Defense Disc projectiles. Loaded in black hulls with a
black oxide high-base. Originally developed for the Taurus Judge, these
shells can also be used for varmint hunting and pest control.
