What Is A Glock Slide?

 
The Glock Slide is the spring loaded part of the Glock semi-automatic pistol that moves back and forth as a pistol is fired. It houses the firing pin/striker and extractor. As the slide moves back, the extractor removes the spent cartridge from the chamber. As the slide moves forward a fresh cartridge is pushed from the magazine into the chamber of the barrel.

To remove the Glock Slide you must field strip the gun per the below procedure.

Maintenance

Replacement Interval

The Glock Slide should require no maintenance other than cleaning, lubrication and inspection after each shooting. The Glock Slide should last the life of the gun and should never need to be replaced.
